M10.5 Blog about an occupational safety and health organization

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is an organization that is within the Center for Disease Control that works to study how we can reduce worker related illnesses, injury and improve the well-being of all workers. Through this research they promote safe and healthy working conditions via interventions, recommendations, and capacity building. They also collaborate around the world to inform and improve working conditions for all. This organization related to my health and safety, because the research that they have done previously has lead to better working conditions for a lot of people and have paved the way for future research in this field to promote even safer working environment.

  1. Hi Kera,

I think you forgot to include a health and safety program sponsored by NIOSH.

Other than that, I will say that NIOSH is an important organization given that they have an influence to change work environments. It is critical that work conditions be adequate for all workers. I can only wish for NIOSH to continue growing and defending workers' workplace environments.

  2. Hi Kera,
Thank you for this informative post about NIOSH. I knew very little about this organization and I am glad to learn that they are doing so much to address various worker related illnesses and injuries. Interventions are so important and necessary for certain workplaces and finding the best one is key to making a significant change. Also, that is great that they collaborate around the world to help improve working conditions for all.
